Dámaso Rodríguez Martín, also known as El Brujo or Maso, was a notorious Canary Islands criminal born in El Batán on December 11, 1945. He was an assassin and rapist who instilled terror in 1991 in the mountainous area of Moquinal (Anaga, Tenerife) after escaping from prison. Rodríguez Martín was responsible for the murder of a German hiking couple and became the most wanted criminal by state security forces. Due to his heinous crimes and extensive media coverage, he is regarded as the most infamous killer in the Canary Islands.
