Daniel William 'Dan' Carter is a former New Zealand rugby player, widely regarded as one of the greatest fly-halves in rugby history. He played professionally for the Perpignan club in the French Top 14 during the winter of the Northern Hemisphere in 2009. After returning to New Zealand, he played provincial rugby for Canterbury and Super Rugby for the Crusaders. Carter represented the All Blacks in the Rugby World Cups of 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2015, winning the last two. He announced his retirement from rugby on February 20, 2021.
