Dan Ripley, born on October 7, 1953, is a retired American pole vault athlete. He set the indoor world record in pole vault five times between 1975 and 1979. Ripley began pole vaulting at age 9, later excelling at California State University, San Jose. He no-heighted at the 1976 Olympics but qualified for the 1980 team, which boycotted the games. His personal best was 5.72 m (18 ft 9 in) won at the national championships in 1982. He also coached at various community colleges and was honored in 2012 for his contributions to athletics.
