He is known for creating several Internet standards, including the Real Time Streaming Protocol, used in platforms like YouTube and Skype. A visionary and Internet pioneer, he has founded multiple tech startups and has been involved in developing technologies such as VoIP and collaborative computing. Harple co-founded InSoft, merged with Netscape, and Context Media, sold to Oracle. He also co-founded GeoSolutions and currently serves as CEO of Shamrock Ventures BV.
