Daniel Mark Fogel (born January 21, 1948) served as the President of the University of Vermont from July 1, 2002, to July 31, 2011. A native of Columbus, Ohio, he is an accomplished poet and scholar, with degrees from Cornell University, including a Ph.D. in English. Under his leadership, the university saw increased enrollment, record fundraising, and improved faculty salaries, despite some controversies regarding staffing and compensation. He is also recognized for his contributions to American literature and has published a book on public universities.
