Daniel Sotomayor (August 30, 1958 — February 5, 1992) was an influential figure as the first openly gay political cartoonist in the United States, contributing to various newspapers including Chicago's Windy City Times. He was also a cofounder of the ACT-UP/Chicago branch, which played a crucial role in AIDS activism during the 1980s and 1990s. His work and activism significantly contributed to raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues and the AIDS crisis.
