She is noted for her achievements in the European Championships, earning bronze in 1999 and silver in 2001 as a relay team member. In the 1998-99 season, Molendijk made history by becoming the first Dutch female short track speed skater to reach the podium at the World Cup, securing third place in both the 3000m race in Zoetermeer and the 1500m race in Székesfehérvár.
