David A. Nichols was a justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court from 1977 to 1988. He was born on August 6, 1917, in Lincolnville, Maine, and attended Bates College and the University of Michigan. Nichols served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and later entered private practice. He held various political roles, including a delegate to the 1952 Republican National Convention. Appointed to the judiciary in 1975, he served as associate justice, writing significant decisions, including a ruling in a high-profile murder case. Nichols passed away on June 21, 1997.
