Trampier was an artist and writer known for his significant contributions to TSR, Inc. and for creating the iconic artwork for early editions of Dungeons & Dragons, including the original Players Handbook cover. He also created the Wormy comic strip for Dragon magazine. At the peak of his career in the late 1980s, Trampier became a recluse following a mysterious withdrawal from the gaming community, and he later distanced himself from TSR and its successor. His location became unknown for many years, leading to rumors of his death.
