David Matthew Altshuler, born on August 27, 1964, is an endocrinologist and human geneticist. He serves as the Executive Vice President of Global Research and Chief Scientific Officer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a position he has held since 2014. Prior to this, he worked at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, where he was a professor of genetics and medicine. Altshuler was a key founding member of the Broad Institute and served as its Deputy Director and Chief Academic Officer, involved in various significant research programs.
