David Azarian was an Armenian jazz pianist born on March 12, 1952, in Yerevan and who worked in the United States from the late 1980s. He received classical piano training from a young age and had become a member of the Soviet Union's composers' union in his twenties. He toured Europe and the Soviet Union with his jazz trio before moving to the U.S. in 1989. Azarian performed in numerous Boston jazz clubs and prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and Blue Note. He taught piano at Berklee College of Music and passed away in March 2003.
