David Azurza Aranburu is a Basque singer and composer born on October 12, 1968, in Tolosa, Gipuzkoa. He has a degree in Fine Arts and studied countertenor with Isabel Álvarez. A member of groups such as Capilla Peñaflorida and KEA, he has collaborated with various choirs and orchestras both in the Basque Country and abroad. Azurza has starred in several world premieres and recordings of operas, primarily limiting his work to vocal music. In 2004, he founded Oihu, a publishing house, which has published over 100 works including choral arrangements and his compositions.
