David B. Stone was an American businessman born on September 2, 1927, and is best known as a principal founder of the New England Aquarium in Boston, which opened in 1969. He also led an investment firm called North American Management Corp. Stone was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, and after serving as a merchant marine in WWII, he graduated from Harvard University. He played a crucial role in planning and fundraising for the aquarium during the 1960s and remained on its board until 1976. He passed away on April 12, 2010.
