David B., born Pierre-François Beauchard on February 9, 1959, in Nîmes, is a prominent French comic book artist and writer, known for his contributions to the nouvelle bande dessinée movement. He began working in comics in 1985 and has illustrated for several magazines. His unique black and white style was influenced by notable artists George Pichard and Jacques Tardi. He co-founded the independent comic publisher L'Association in 1990, and his autobiographical series, L'Ascension du Haut Mal, is considered a key work in modern comics, receiving multiple nominations at the Angoulême Comic Festival.
