David Birnie was an Australian serial killer born in 1951, who, alongside his wife Catherine, committed a series of murders in Willagee, a suburb of Perth, between October 6 and November 4, 1986. They killed four young women and a girl aged between 15 and 35 years. These crimes were referred to by the press as the "Moorhouse murders." Birnie's actions and the subsequent legal proceedings drew significant media attention in Australia.
