David William Robert Brand, Lord Brand (1923-1996) was a British lawyer and judge known for his conservative outlook and a reputation for delivering speedy decisions with severe sentences. His education was interrupted by his service in WWII. He served as a sheriff in southern Scotland from 1968 to 1970, then as Solicitor-General for Scotland from 1970 to 1972. He was a Senator of the College of Justice from 1972 to 1989 and briefly an appellate judge in Botswana in 1994.
