Educated at Wednesfield Grammar School and King's College London, he was ordained in 1977 after studying at St Augustine's College, Canterbury. Brindley served as a curate, lecturer, Vicar, and Principal of a ministerial training course before being appointed Dean of Portsmouth in 2002. He held this position until his retirement on June 10, 2018. His contributions to the church span several decades, impacting various congregations.
