David E. McClelland is an Australian physicist renowned for his research on the manipulation and control of optical quantum states, particularly in relation to gravitational wave observatories. He holds fellowships from the Australian Academy of Science, American Physical Society, and Optical Society of America. Since 2001, he has served as a professor at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra's Research School of Physics and Engineering. He also leads the ANU's Centre for Gravitational Astrophysics and is Deputy Director of OzGrav, focusing on gravitational wave discovery research.
