David F. Breashears (December 20, 1955 – March 14, 2024) was an American mountaineer and filmmaker known for his climbing achievements on Mount Everest. He became the first American to reach the summit of Everest twice in 1985. Breashears gained further recognition as he led the first commercial expedition to the summit for businessman Dick Bass, assisting Bass in becoming the first person to complete the 'Seven Summits.' His contributions to mountaineering and filmmaking have made him a notable figure in the exploration community.
