Prior to this role, he was the assistant organist at the same cathedral and spent two years at Lincoln Cathedral. He is recognized as a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and holds positions as a visiting professor at Canterbury Christ Church University and a visiting fellow of St John's College in Durham.
