David Fromer (1920-2000) was an Israeli military officer and founder of the naval demolition squad and Shayetet 13, awarded the Medal of Valor. Born in Poland, he immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1936 and served in various military units. He volunteered for the British Royal Navy during WWII and participated in commando operations. After the war, he contributed to explosive device preparation and took part in significant operations, including one in Venice in 1948. He commanded operations for Shayetet 13, receiving commendations for his leadership before passing away in 2000.
