David Galef is an American fiction writer, critic, poet, translator, and essayist, born on March 27, 1959, in the Bronx. He graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University, earned an M.A. from Columbia University, and completed his Ph.D. in literature. He has published over sixteen books and more than two hundred short stories. Galef has worked as a professor and director of the creative writing program at Montclair State University. His work has appeared in notable publications, and he has received several awards for his contributions to literature.
