David Goldblatt (29 November 1930 – 25 June 2018) was a South African photographer renowned for his photographic documentation of the everyday lives of South Africans during the apartheid era. In his later years, he focused on landscape photography. In 1988, he became the first South African whose work was featured in a special exhibition at the famous Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. A major retrospective of his work was organized at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in the spring of 2018.
