David Da-i Ho is a Taiwanese-American physician and virologist, born on November 3, 1952, in Taichung, Taiwan. He has significantly advanced the understanding and treatment of HIV infection, advocating for combination antiretroviral therapy instead of monotherapy. This shift transformed HIV from a terminal illness into a manageable chronic condition. He is the founding scientific director of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center and holds the Clyde and Helen Wu Professorship of Medicine at Columbia University. His early education and medical training took place in the United States after his family emigrated.
