David Howard Kaplan is an American geographer, academic, and author, currently a professor of geography at Kent State University. He has authored and edited over a dozen books, along with more than 70 articles and book chapters. His research interests include urban and regional ethnicity, residential segregation, urban economies, nationalism, and sustainable transportation. Kaplan has held leadership roles in the American Association of Geographers, including President and Vice President, and he is also involved with the American Geographical Society and various geography publication initiatives.
