David John Doukas is an American family physician and bioethicist, born on November 4, 1957. He is the James A. Knight Chair of Humanities and Ethics in Medicine at Tulane University, where he also directs the Program in Medical Ethics and Human Values. Doukas serves as the Executive Director of the Master of Science in Bioethics and Medical Humanities. Notably, he was the Founding President of the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care from 2012 to 2019 and was recognized in 2023 for his influential contributions to ethics education.
