David Julius is an American physiologist known for his research on the molecular mechanisms underlying the detection of thermal stimuli and natural products. He is a professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and was awarded the 2010 Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine. In 2021, he shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Ardem Patapoutian. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of sensory perception and how organisms respond to environmental changes.
