David Kaup is an American applied mathematician and physicist, renowned for his contributions to the theory of solitons and other nonlinear waves. He is a professor at the University of Central Florida. Kaup studied physics at the University of Oklahoma, earning his bachelor's degree in 1960 and a master's degree in 1962, later earning his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1967. He held positions at Clarkson University and contributed to several significant developments in Inverse Scattering Transformation.
