David Kent Harrison was an American mathematician born on April 6, 1931, in Massachusetts. He specialized in algebra, focusing on homological algebra and valuation theory. He earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1957 under Emil Artin. Harrison taught at the University of Pennsylvania and later at the University of Oregon, where he became professor emeritus in 1993. He contributed to commutative cohomology theory and valuation theory. He supervised 28 doctoral students and was a Guggenheim Fellow. He passed away on December 21, 1999.
