David Jerome Kuck is an American computer developer and computer scientist born on October 3, 1937, in Muskegon, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1959 and later obtained his Master's and PhD from Northwestern University. Kuck was a professor at the University of Illinois from 1965 to 1993 and directed the Center for Supercomputing Research and Development. He was a pioneer in compiler development, particularly in automatic vectorization, and founded Kuck and Associates. Kuck contributed significantly to several software and hardware projects, receiving numerous accolades.
