David Winslow Latham is an American physicist known for his work in observational cosmology and galaxy redshifts. He obtained his bachelor's degree in mathematics from MIT in 1961 and his master's degree in astronomy from Harvard University in 1970. Latham contributed to the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory project that led to the construction of the MMT telescope in the 1970s, and in 1989 he led a team that published the first candidate for an exoplanet found using Doppler techniques, HD 114762b.
