David Anthony Laws (born November 30, 1965) is a British politician from the Liberal Democrats. He served as a Member of Parliament for Yeovil from 2001 to 2015. In 2010, he became a minister, first as Chief Secretary to the Treasury and later as Minister of Schools and Cabinet Office. A former investment banker, Laws was also the party's economic advisor and policy director. He resigned after 17 days as Chief Secretary due to a scandal involving parliamentary expense claims, marking one of six ministerial resignations linked to the expenses scandal.
