David Michael Letterman, born on April 12, 1947, is an American television host, comedian, writer, producer, and former actor. He hosted 'Late Night with David Letterman' for 33 years, starting on February 1, 1982, and ending on May 20, 2015. With around 6,028 episodes aired, he surpassed Johnny Carson for the longest tenure as a late-night talk show host in U.S. television history. Letterman was also a television and film producer, with his company Worldwide Pants producing several successful shows.
