David M. Walba is an American chemist known for his work in organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and liquid crystals. He earned his Bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1971 from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed his Ph.D. in 1975 at Caltech. Walba was a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA, became an assistant professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and later a full professor. Notably, he specializes in the synthesis of molecules featuring Möbius strip topology, liquid crystals, and organic photonic materials.
