David George Joseph Malouf, born on March 20, 1934, is an Australian author regarded as one of Australia's greatest writers. He received the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 2000, and his novel 'Remembering Babylon' won the International Dublin Literary Award in 1996. Malouf was also awarded the inaugural Australia-Asia Literary Award in 2008 and was nominated for the Booker Prize. In 2016, he received the Australian Council's Lifetime Achievement Award in Literature. He was named a K150 Icon in Queensland in 2009 for his influence as an artist.
