David Mark Berger was an Israeli Olympic weightlifter born on May 24, 1944, in the United States. He became a hostage, along with ten other Israeli Olympians, during the Munich Massacre by the Palestinian group Black September at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. Berger was a lawyer by education and moved to Israel after participating in the 1969 Maccabiah Games. Unfortunately, he was killed during this tragic event.
