David Marusek is an American science fiction author born on January 21, 1951, in Buffalo, New York. Before becoming a writer, he worked as a graphic designer for 20 years. His debut story, 'The Earth Is on the Mend', was published in Asimov’s Science Fiction in May 1993. He gained attention for 'Getting to Know You' in 1998, and his story 'Das Hochzeitsalbum' won the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award in 2000. He has written four novels in two series which explore themes of near-future societal changes due to technology and extraterrestrial contact.
