David McDavid is an American businessman and investor born on February 16, 1942, in Texas. He is best known for founding the David McDavid Automotive Group, which includes 17 dealerships across Texas, starting at the age of 19. McDavid sold his dealership empire in 1997 for $380 million. He has also invested in sports, notably in the purchase of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. In 2008, he won a jury verdict for $281 million against Turner Broadcasting over a failed sports team acquisition. McDavid also has interests in the horse industry.
