David Mourão-Ferreira (February 24, 1927 - June 16, 1996) was a prominent Portuguese writer and poet, born and died in Lisbon. He entered the literary field while still a student at the Faculty of Arts in 1945, writing critical articles and poetry. He gained recognition in the early 1950s, with his works being translated into multiple languages. His notable works include 'Seagulls over the Island' and 'The Four Seasons'. In 2005, the Lisbon City Council honored him by naming a street in the Alto do Lumiar neighborhood after him.
