David Murphy is a former Australian rules footballer born on August 23, 1962. He played for the Sydney Swans in the VFL/AFL, primarily as a wingman. Murphy was a key player in the Swans' midfield during the late 1980s and had a notable partnership with Greg Williams. He represented Victoria and New South Wales in State of Origin and earned All-Australian selection at the 1988 Bicentennial Carnival. Despite wearing the 'Big V', he always resided in New South Wales. In 2003, he was named on the wing in the Swans' official 'Team of the Century'.
