David Packard (September 7, 1912 - March 26, 1996) was the co-founder of Hewlett-Packard alongside William Hewlett. He served as the company's president from 1947 to 1964 and later as the CEO from 1964 to 1968, and as chairman of the board during various terms from 1964 to 1993. Packard held the position of Deputy Secretary of Defense of the United States from 1969 to 1971 under the Nixon administration. He was also the president of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences from 1976 to 1981 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1988.
