David Paul Gregg (1923 - November 2001) was an American inventor, recognized by many as the inventor of optical data storage and the electronic or digital camera. He invented the video disk camera while working at Winston Research Corporation and patented it in 1962 (USPO 3350503). Although it could only store images for a few minutes in an electrically analog format, it was the first camera capable of electronically storing still images.
