Serving as the Isaac Wolfson Professor of Metallurgy from 1992 to 2011, he contributed significantly to materials modeling. He authored 'Bonding and Structure of Molecules and Solids' and pioneered the creation of 'structure maps' that predict the crystal structure of alloys. An esteemed academic, he held degrees from the University of Witwatersrand and the University of Cambridge. Pettifor received several accolades, including a CBE in 2005 and the Royal Society's Armourers and Brasiers' Medal in 1999.
