David William Pettit was an English first-class cricketer born on 24 March 1937 in Canterbury. He was educated at St Edmund's School and later attended Hertford College, Oxford, where he played for Oxford University in 1958 and 1959. Pettit made five first-class appearances primarily in trial matches, taking only six wickets at a high average. His first significant match was against Derbyshire, and he also played against the touring Indian team. Pettit passed away suddenly in May 1990 in Greta West, Victoria, Australia.
