Born on May 12, 1938, in Baghdad, Iraq, he was raised in an Arabic-speaking Sephardic Jewish family. After moving to Israel in 1951, he later relocated to the United States in 1970. Rabeeya taught at various educational levels for 33 years at Bryn Mawr College, focusing on the Middle East and Jewish relations with other groups in his writings. He passed away at the age of 83 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
