David Raison is a French naval architect, designer engineer, and skipper born in 1972 in Saint-Nazaire. In 2010, he introduced the scow principle to offshore racing architecture, featuring a wide bow and round stem, which significantly enhanced power and revolutionized the Mini class. Raison captained his own scow design, the Magnum, winning the Mini Transat in 2011, and also led it to victory in all 2014 races. He further developed the Maximum scow, winning numerous 2017 and 2018 Mini circuit races and introduced the scow to Class40, leading to concurrent victories in major transatlantic races in 2019.
