David Rivard, born in 1953 in Fall River, Massachusetts, is an acclaimed American poet known for his significant contribution to contemporary poetry. He has authored seven books, including 'Wise Poison,' which won the 1996 James Laughlin Award, and 'Standoff,' awarded the 2017 PEN New England Award in Poetry. In addition to his literary accomplishments, he serves as a Professor of English Creative Writing in the Masters of Fine Arts program at the University of New Hampshire, where he nurtures emerging writers. His works appear in many notable literary magazines.
