David Randolph 'Dave' Scott, born on June 6, 1932, is a retired American Air Force officer, engineer, test pilot, and NASA astronaut. Selected in October 1963 as part of NASA's third group of astronauts, he became the seventh person to walk on the Moon during the Apollo 15 mission. Scott holds the distinction of being the first person to drive a vehicle on the lunar surface. His astronaut career also included participation in the Gemini 8 and Apollo 9 missions.
