David John Simms was an Indian-born Irish mathematician specializing in differential geometry and geometric quantisation. He served as a Fellow Emeritus and former Associate Professor of Mathematics at Trinity College, Dublin. Born on January 13, 1933, in Sankeshwar, Mysore, India, Simms contributed significantly to the field and was a member of the Royal Irish Academy from 1978. He was also part of the Editorial Board of the journal Mathematical Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy until his passing on June 24, 2018.
