David Lee Suarez is an American virologist and immunologist born in 1964. He obtained his veterinary degree in 1988 and his PhD in veterinary microbiology in 1995. He is board certified in virology and immunology. Suarez has worked in various veterinary and research roles, including at the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory. He is known for developing critical RRT-PCR assays for detecting avian influenza and Newcastle disease viruses, and has been influential in controlling these outbreaks in the U.S.
